It amuses me deeply to reflect that somewhere today, in another entirely fictional branch of time, Warrick lives, Natalie Davis never existed, and Grissom and Sara are getting married.
I'm still pretty proud of that one. *grin*

Fifteen months ago I started a scrap of story, not thinking much of it at the time. It grew, so I kept working on it, idly thinking that it would be a longer story than the one that it followed, but not that much longer. Heck, when I started posting in August, I thought it was almost finished.
Hah.
Well, it's late May, over a year later, and now it's done.
"Halfway to the Moon" clocks in at forty chapters. 163 pages at Verdana 8 pt. And a whopping total of 162,954 words. That's bigger than my Prey novella, and took much less time to write. Of course, there are longer stories out there, but this is definitely a first for me.
Writing HTTM has taught me that I can in fact handle a long story, that I can generally manage at least 3,200 words or so per week if I push myself, that I can keep characters true even when they're off in an alternate universe, and that I never never never intend to start posting again unless I have everything finished but the tweaks.
This story has been a challenge in many ways, but it's also been a joy. I've had the humbling pleasure of many kind reviews and much support. Trialia, Eileen, Ligaras, Jpsets, Anne, Ricker, CSINut214, ATrueParrothead, Jtbwriter, Smrozier, Wobbear, DaVinci13, Susanmary and many, many others have kept me going on this. Thank you.
And thank you to Cincoflex, the Queen of betas. She has patiently helped me refine HTTM even when I should have been doing other things, has put up with my whines and worries, and gently polished my ideas. I quite literally couldn't have done it without her.
Thanks for reading, folks. Thanks for putting up with all the OCs, and the AU, and the time it took to get Grissom and Sara together. It's a bit of a relief to have the pressure off, but I know I'll miss the writing too...
...And I reserve the right to more stories in the RC universe. *grin* This is not a promise, mind you, just an option.

Halfway to the Moon updated at last. Sorry for the delay.
I do intend to update HTTM today, but due to an obligation it's going to be pretty late, EST. I will do my best to get it in before midnight, though!
HTTM's Chapter 37 is up, with lovely fanart by DijitaruHana! It's so gorgeous. :D
Chapter 36 of HTTM is up, despite my sneezing! Ugh, I hate it when the trees get amorous.
I'm gonna try to finish Ch. 36 and post it today, but fair warning, if my allergies don't calm down a bit I may be suitable for nothing but sitting in a chair and sneezing miserably. *sniffle cough*
Chapter 35 of HTTM is up, whew!
Ch. 34 of HTTM is up. Yeah, it smacks of "Proud Flesh" a little, but the motivations are different...
Ch. 33 up. *evil grin*
Chapter 32 of HTTM is now up. Fluff!
I'm putting HTTM on hiatus again, for another week. Part 2B of my opportunity took place over the past few days, leaving me little time or energy to give Ch. 32 the attention it deserves. In addition, I've been writing up to the wire for the past several chapters, and it's left me dissatisfied with the results. So I'm going to take an extra week and see if I can get a little ahead in proper fashion.
My apologies for the delay!

Heh, thanks to those of you who left such kind comments in my last entry. I'm still not terribly pleased with the chapter, but it's very good to know that people do like it. You're such sweethearts!
Chapter 31 of HTTM is up now...not wonderful, but there.
Chapter 30 of HTTM is finally up--short, but done. I blame my allergies. *sigh*
Chapter 29 of HTTM is posted. Seriously marshmallowy!
Chapter 28 of HTTM is up, and a pretty good one if I do say so myself. *grin*
Chapter 27 of HTTM is now up. I meant to have a longer chapter because of the hiatus, but I'm running out of workday, and as of last night I have no dial tone at home--which means no Internet access, and no posting except at work. *sigh* It could be a few days before it's working again, I'm told (it's an upgrade). So a regular-length chapter for the readers, and a quiet night for me...
Thanks for all the wonderful notes of support about my project! I'm honored. Unfortunately, I won't be able to finish the chapter by Wednesday. I am hereby (and just about here only, given that YTDAW is still down) declaring a week of hiatus for HTTM. If I get the chapter done this weekend, I reserve the right to post it, but don't look for it before next Wednesday (the 15th). My apologies.
