Well, I got a cold that made me too tired to write, and then I discovered that my carefully hoarded bunny was nowhere near active enough to sustain the pressures of NaNo. So I am bowing out of it this year, and will turn my attention to cheering
cincoflex on.
It's not a bad story, if I may be permitted the hubris; this is just not its time.

I hate Photoshop. Hate hate hate.
*sigh* Is anyone out there willing to make me an icon from a large .jpg file? I just want the background sort of faded back. I'll give you...well, I don't know. What do you want?
ETA: Got it! Thank you,
phdelicious!

Christmas bunny: 1,602 words in two days and counting.
You know, some people can actually write poignant, snappy, funny stories in fifteen hundred words or so. The kind of story that makes you grin in delight, or ooh, or sniffle. Compact, contained skill. Bursts of pleasure.
I'm getting so that I'm lucky if I can finish a scene in that amount of words. Nngh. Why can't I do short any more? *eyeroll*

Ugh, what a week.
I lost power to my apartment on July 4 after a really scary storm. It didn't come back on after a couple of hours, so I decided to take my food over to my parents' house (they have an extra fridge) and spend the night there, since without air conditioning my place was...unpleasant.
No power on Wednesday, either, so I took my cats over to my parents' too. They promptly both hid under a recliner. I didn't think even one of them would fit.
I stayed up late because it was storming, making the family dog nervous; she kept trying to get into the cats' room, and the door won't stay shut in that room. I finally had to drag a chest across the hall doorway to keep her out.
Thursday morning I was so stressed and tired that I couldn't face going to work. My mom convinced me to go back to bed, and after I got up again I went over to find out if I had power (only to the fridge) and hassle the apartment management about getting it all back. It came back around four Thursday afternoon, and about that time I found out that my apartment was to be sprayed for bugs on Friday. *argh* They never give us more than about eight hours notice--and how was I supposed to vacuum without power?
So my cats and my groceries are still at my parents'. I've slept on a couch for three nights now. I hope I still have power. I haven't had time to do more than respond to the kind notes that people left me on Geekfiction; I haven't had the time to review anyone's fic, or update Cinco's site. I've got a ton of things to do, work-related and otherwise.
Mind, I'm very grateful that my mom could take me and my cats in, with patience and good humor; I'm quite lucky. But it's still all very annoying.

Ever have one of those days when you'd like to take the manufacturers of a particular software package and lock them in a small box with many rabid weasels?
WEASEL TIME!!!
